GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Each student must pass a total of 24 credits, which include:
4.0 credits of English (Grades 9, 10, 11, 12)
3.0 credits of Mathematics
3.0 credits of Science (including 2.0 credits in laboratory courses)
3.0 credits of Social Studies (including 2.0 credits of U.S. History)
2.0 credits (4 semesters) of Physical Education
0.5 credits (1 semester) of Health
8.5 additional credits in any area
1.0 Credit = One Full Year
0.5 Credit = One Semester
Each student is also required to pass the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System exams in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science/Technology.
Tenth graders take MCAS tests in the spring of each school year. Students who fail any of these tests will receive extra support and repeat individual tests in grades 11 and 12 until they receive a passing competency determination. In addition, each student who has not yet scored the next-generation MCAS equivalent of at least Proficient/240 (scaled scores of 472 or higher for ELA and 486 or higher for math) on the grade 10 ELA and Math MCAS exams test will be placed on an Educational Proficiency (EPP) that will require four full years of Math and/or English as well as a passing grade in the course(s) and in their midyear and final exams.
